I have unashamedly been to see this film twice now, neither time with a child in tow, and I absolutely love it! I have slightly fallen for the bear which we will gloss over and concentrate on the house which is wonderfully colourful and bonkers. The hallway, with its magnificent staircase has a blossom tree mural which sheds petals and regrows them as the households fortunes ebb and flow.
Bright colours and a carousel horse feature in the house
Julie Walters is perfect as Mrs Bird – love the house shoes.
The kitchen is fabulously unconventional
Judy’s room, doing a photo wall as only a teenager can
and the family bathroom that is brilliantly destroyed
Another brilliant location in the film is Mr Gruber’s house
You’ve got to admit that he is quite cute….
Finally, just to say, if you are in the Dover area, the Silver Screen cinema is absolutely brilliant!
